Aloxi® is a medicine for nausea. Serotonin antagonist.

Active substances

palonosetron


Application

Aloxi® is used for the prevention of vomiting and vomiting in connection with chemotherapy.

The injection solution is only used in hospitals.


Dosage

Available as capsules and injections injected into a vein.

capsules

  • Adults. 500 micrograms approx. 1 hour before chemotherapy.

Note:

  • The capsules should be swallowed whole.

Special warnings

The drug should be used with caution in case of impaired bowel function.


Using other medicines

  • Concomitant treatment with certain agents for depression (SSRIs) may trigger so-called serotonin syndrome (including fever, stiffness, tremor, muscle cramps and altered mental state). The condition can be severe and requires quick medical attention.
