Application
Amisulpride "DLF" is used to treat schizophrenia and other psychoses characterized by negative symptoms, such as lack of initiative.
Dosage
Available as tablets. The dose is individual and depends on the nature and severity of the disease.
Acute psychoses: Adults. Usually 400-800 mg per day divided into 1-2 doses. The dose may be increased to 1200 mg a day.
Predominantly negative symptoms: Usually 50-300 mg a day.
Note:
- There is limited experience in the treatment of the elderly and no experience in the treatment of children younger than puberty age.
- It may be necessary to reduce the dose in poorly functioning kidneys.

* Prolonged QT interval is a particular type of heart rhythm disorder, which in some cases can lead to sudden death.
- Malignant neuroleptic syndrome is a serious condition with fever, awareness raising and several of the above mentioned side effects. This condition requires immediate medical attention.
- Involuntary movements occur most often during long-term treatment. These will usually disappear after cessation of the drug, but in some cases they are persistent.
Should not be used
- In case of severe weakening of consciousness, by tumor in the adrenal gland (pharyochromocytoma) and certain forms of cancer (eg breast cancer), the drug should not be used.
- The drug must not be used in certain forms of cardiac arrhythmias (prolonged QT interval).
- Concomitant use of medicines that cause irregular heartbeat (prolonged QT interval).

Works by altering the activity of several signal substances in the brain, thus inhibiting the transmission of nerve impulses in the brain. The agent thus has a calming and antipsychotic effect without acting healing. The antipsychotic effect can only be expected after treatment for 1-2 weeks, sometimes 1-2 months. The effect may last several weeks after the treatment has ended.
The half-life in the blood (T?) is approximately 12 hours.
Pharmaceutical forms
Tablets. 1 tablet contains 50 mg (partial) or 200 mg (partial) of amisulpride.
Special warnings
- Use with caution:
- For the elderly
- In cardiovascular disease
- At increased risk, hypertension / blood clot in the brain

- By tendency to cramps.

- Alcohol enhances the sedative effect of the drug.
- There is more mortality than normal when treating elderly people with dementia with antipsychotics.
- Blood clots can be seen by treatment with antipsychotics. Extra attention should be paid if you have an increased risk of blood clots.
- Due to the potential effect of the heart on the heart rate, you should check with your doctor before starting treatment and during treatment. The drug should be used with special caution if there is an increased risk of developing prolonged QT interval - a particular type of rhythm disturbance in the heart. For example, too little potassium in the blood, slow heart rate, various heart conditions, concomitant use of diuretics, and if you are a woman or over 65 years of age.If you experience symptoms of cardiac arrhythmias (eg palpitation, dizziness, fainting), consult your doctor.
- Antipsychotics, including in particular Amisulpride "DLF" may in some cases increase the amount of hormone prolactin that is important for the development of breast cancer. If you are breast cancer, use the medicine with caution.
Using other medicines
It is important to inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking.
- Do not use with medicines that may lead to prolonged QT interval - a particular form of heart rhythm disturbances. This applies, inter alia, to certain remedies for heart rhythm disorders, certain antipsychotic drugs, and more antibiotics and antidepressants.
- Concomitant use of clozapine (another antidiabetic agent) may increase the effect of Amisulpride "DLF".
- Amisulpride "DLF" enhances the soothing effect of tranquillizers, sleepers, painkillers and antihistamines.
- Amisulpride "DLF" may reduce the effect of levodopa (anti-Parkinson's disease).
