Application

Citrafleet is used for emptying the intestine before eg binocular examination or x-ray examination of the intestine.


Dosage

Available as powder oral solution (liquid to drink).

Adults

  • 1 letter is taken the morning of the day before the examination.
  • Next letter is taken 6-8 hours later.
  • The last dose should be taken between 4 and 12 hours before the study.

Note:

  • See "Handling and Durability" regarding. dissolution of the powder.
  • You should drink approx. 250 ml clear fluids, preferably water every hour, as long as the intestinal cleansing takes place.
  • The period of cleansing should not last longer than 24 hours.

Should not be used

Citrafleet should not be used for:

  • Very poor functioning kidneys

Special warnings

Citrafleet should be used with caution at:

  • Fluid and salt balance disorders
  • Conditions where a barrier to the passage has occurred
  • heart disease
  • Low blood pressure
  • dehydration
  • Chronic intestinal disease with inflammation
  • Recent surgery in the intestine
  • Co-treatment with diuretics (diuretics)
  • Concomitant treatment with NSAID (painkillers).

Using other medicines

  • Citrafleet may reduce the effect of other drugs taken through the mouth, for example, birth control pills. Therefore, other medicines should be taken at least 1 hour before Citrafleet.
