Concerned for side effects of birth control pills

Questions:

I am a 14 year old girl and tends to get cysts. I have been hospitalized twice in Easter and I have only had menstruation since Christmas. Besides that, I have very strong menstrual pain so my doctor has recommended me to start taking birth control pills. I'm just very nervous about side effects, because I've been told that you can get blood clots, depression, mood swings, weight gain and maybe I'm not getting higher. I weigh 57 kg and is 167 cm. I'm very bad with my appearance in advance, so I'm very excited if I'm not getting higher and going to weigh more. What should I do?

If it is your doctor who has recommended you to take birth control, then you must assume that he knows your medical history and therefore has recommended it on an informed basis. The pill will most likely help against the strong pain you have. Blood clots due to birth control pills have been previously seen, but not very often and often associated with some risk factors, which I am sure your doctor has spoken to you.

There are some who gain weight but not everyone, and you can happily control how much you want to gain weight. Do you eat more than you burn, then get on. But you have normal weight and height.

Mood swings are many women who get around the ovulation, but if you think it's getting too bad or developing depression, just keep pause or change. You must talk to your own doctor about these concerns. Also, I would not be worried about your height, as you have a nice height and only 14 years. You are therefore not yet fully developed.

Best wishes
