Donepezil "Aurobindo" is used to treat the symptoms of dementia.
Dosage
Available as tablets.
Adults. The starting dose. Usually 5 mg once a day. After at least 1 month of treatment, the dose may be increased to 10 mg once a day.
Note:
Due. The risk of diarrhea is recommended that fragile patients take the drug in the morning at the start of treatment. Gastrointestinal effects usually fade after a few days and the medication can then be taken at the time that best suits the patient. Some side effects may, if they occur, be counteracted by taking a dose in the morning (increased dream activity) or in the evening (dizziness, nausea).

Works by increasing the amount of signalacetylcholine in the brain. This shows an improvement in the patient's daily function, but the treatment does not affect the progress of the disease. The half life in the blood (T?) is approximately 70 hours.
Pharmaceutical forms
Tablets. 1 tablet (film-coated) contains 5 mg or 10 mg donepezil hydrochloride.
Special warnings
- Treatment should, as a general rule, only be initiated if the patient has a relative or caregiver who can help handle the treatment on a daily basis.
- The drug should be used with cautionary ulcers, asthma or other pulmonary diseases, epilepsy, urinary incontinence and certain cardiac arrhythmia disorders.
- There is no experience with the agent for very poorly functioning liver.
- The weight should be followed as treatment can increase the risk of weight loss.
- The drug should be used with caution if there is an increased risk of developing prolonged QT interval - a particular type of rhythm disturbance in the heart. For example, too little potassium in the blood, slow heart rate, various heart conditions, concurrent use of diuretics, and if you are a woman.
Using other medicines
It is important to inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking.
- A number of agents (including certain antifungal agents, certain antibiotics and certain anti-HIV agents) may increase the effect of Donepezil "Aurobindo".
- Rifampicin (tuberculosis) and epilepsy agents (phenytoin and carbamazepine) may reduce the effect of Donepezil "Aurobindo".
- Caution with concomitant use of agents that may lead to prolonged QT interval - a particular form of heart rhythm disturbances. This applies, inter alia, to certain remedies for heart rhythm disorders, certain antipsychotic drugs, and more antibiotics and antidepressants.
