How is the relationship between stress and serotonin deficiency?

Questions:

I have taken cipramil daily since 1995. I am fine and is no longer depressed.

However, I feel a reminisence of depression when I am stressed and at every 3 menstrual periods.

What I want to find answers to is:

How is the relationship between stress and serotonin deficiency?

Is it safe that I take cipramil the rest of my life?

I have a swinging urge for acolhol - but decreased a lot after I started Cipramil.

This actually comes at every 3 menstruation.

Is there a connection between hormones and serotonin that causes me to have depressive symptoms during the menstrual period?

Or are it Quarterly Symptoms?

Thanks in advance

It almost healed

You point to a possible relationship between stress and serotonin deficiency in your letter. There are many indications that there is actually such a connection. This is something we are studying intensively in and as we plan to publish some results later in the year or first in the new year.

Cipramil actually protects the nerve cells from the harmful effect of stress and thus you against the return of the depression. There is a lot about this on the network doctor during a few weeks as I plan to write a lot about precisely preventing new depressions. So you can continue to take cipramil. You already know the side effects (if you have any) and there is no new one.

Finally, your question about depression and hormones is very interesting. There is no doubt that some women are very sensitive to hormone fluctuations and can react with different genes as well as perhaps depressive symptoms associated with the menstrual periods. Something similar we see in some (not all!) With birth depressions. Therefore, psychological factors also mean a lot. If you feel uncomfortable due to hormone fluctuations, less stress before depression should be triggered.

❓ How does stress affect serotonin levels?

👉 There are many variables between them, but they seem to work in a see-saw manner. When serotonin levels drop low, cortisol (the stress hormone) levels tend to get high. ❓ What is serotonin deficiency and how does it affect you?

👉 It regulates different bodily processes, including your appetite, sleep, and mood. Serotonin deficiency can lead to anxiety, depression, and feelings of stress. Likewise, too much stress can lead to serotonin deficiency. It’s a vicious cycle.
