Omnipaque®

FAQ - 💬

❓ What is Omnipaque used for?

👉 This medication is used before X-ray imaging tests (such as CT scans). Iohexol contains iodine and belongs to a class of drugs known as contrast media or dyes. It works by adding contrast to body parts and fluids in these imaging tests.

❓ What kind of drug is Omnipaque?

👉 Omnipaque (iohexol injection) is a radiographic contrast medium indicated for intrathecal administration in adults including myelography (lumbar, thoracic, cervical, total columnar) and in contrast enhancement for computerized tomography (myelography, cisternography, ventriculography).

❓ What is Omnipaque for CT scan?

👉 Omnipaque is a clear, colourless iodine-based liquid. It is used to make the images clearer and define different structures in the body during a CT scan to help with diagnosis. A radiologist (a specialist doctor trained in studying scans and X-rays) will have approved a protocol to carry out your scan.

❓ How long does Omnipaque stay in your body?

👉 Approximately 90% or more of the injected dose is excreted within the first 24 hours, with the peak urine concentrations occurring in the first hour after administration. Plasma and urine iohexol levels indicate that the iohexol body clearance is due primarily to renal clearance.
