Application

PancillinĀ® is used to treat:

  • Infections with bacteria that may be affected by penicillin, such as throat inflammation, pneumonia or middle ear infection.

Dosage

Available as tablets.

  • The dose depends on the nature and severity of the disease.
  • Adults. Usually 330-660 mg (500,000-1 million IU) 2-4 times a day.
  • Children. 33-66 mg (50,000-100,000 IU) per kg body weight per day divided into 2-4 doses.

Note: Piece of vegetables in tablets1 mill. IE and 1.5 mill. IU can be used to facilitate ingestion. It can not be guaranteed that half a tablet contains half dose.

PancillinĀ® should not be used in:

  • Hypersensitivity to penicillin or penicillin-like agents.

effect

  • Works by destroying the bacterial cell wall so that they go to the ground. The agent is effective against a few bacterial species and is the social sciences spectrum.
  • The half life in the blood (T?) is 30-60 minutes.

Pharmaceutical forms

Tablets. 1 tablet (film-coated) contains 500,000 IU (330 mg), 1 mill. IU (660 mg) or 1.5 mill. IE (990 mg) of phenoxymethylpenicillin potassium.


Special warnings

PancillinĀ® should be used with caution:

  • In any treatment with an antibiotic, the bacteria may become insensitive (resistant) to the used agent and any other antibiotics. However, PancillinĀ® is one of the antibiotics that develops least resistance.
  • You will often notice an improvement already after two days, but you must continue treatment after the doctor's instructions.

Using other medicines

It is important to inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking.
  • Probenecid (antidiabetic agent) may potentiate the effect of PancillinĀ®.
  • Other types of antibiotics (erythromycin and tetracycline) reduce the effect of PancillinĀ®.
  • Probenecid increases the effect of aminoglycoside antibiotics.
